THE CONCEPT · COLORETE

Cities imagined as women.

My queens are born from a fascination with eras when ornament was a language — when clothing and elaborate headdresses expressed identity, status and imagination.

Architecture becomes a crown.
A city becomes a woman.

Queen of Barcelona — Mediterranean, by Marisa Ruiz. Portrait with a sculptural headdress of golden sailboats, waves and Barcelona architecture.

01 · MEMORY

Ornament as a language

I have always been drawn to the theatrical richness of historical dress: the way a silhouette, a jewel or an extraordinary headdress could tell a story. In Colorete, that fascination becomes the starting point for a contemporary imaginary world.

02 · FORM

Elegance meets geometry

The elegance of Art Deco and the 1930s meets the fragmented forms of Cubism. Sculptural clothing, geometric hair and carefully shaped light bring these influences together in a visual language of my own.

03 · IDENTITY

A city becomes a queen

Architecture becomes part of each woman's identity. Towers, bridges, harbours and landmarks are transformed into crowns and sculptural headdresses. Each queen is an imagined portrait of a city, carrying its character, its atmosphere and its stories.

Drawing on my background in fashion photography and graphic design, I develop each queen through concept, composition, colour and light — bringing historical inspiration into a contemporary artistic universe.
